How to Web Print

About

Use the CED Web Print service to print a PDF file from your personal device to a CED laser printer. Options include color or black & white printing, single or double-sided printing, and two paper sizes: Letter (8.5" x 11") or Tabloid (11" x 17").

Prerequisites

  • You must have a CED Computing + Printing Account.
  • You need to have funds on your PaperCut account.
  • Your PDF file must be formatted with a page size of either 8.5" x 11" or 11" x 17" and be less than 50 MB in size.

Before You Print

  • DO NOT UPLOAD A FILE OF ANY OTHER TYPE OR PAGE SIZE. THE RESULTS ARE UNPREDICTABLE AND NOT REFUNDABLE.
  • To print other file types or sizes, or to print to a CED printer not listed in the Web Print service, or to scale your file up or down to a paper size other than its native size, log into a CED computer instead, open your file in the application of your choice, and print it from there.
  • When using the Web Print service, choose your printer carefully. When printing to a color printer, you pay the same price whether you print in color or black & white. There are no refunds for choosing the wrong printer.
  • As of October 2023, avoid using the Web Print service to print PDF files directly or indirectly exported from Rhino. When you do, areas of the printed page might be obscured by large black "blocks" that don't appear on the screen when viewing the PDF. You have two alternatives:
    • Alternative #1: Log into a CED computer in one of our labs or studios and print the file directly from Adobe Acrobat instead. It will print normally.
    • Alternative #2: Open the PDF file you exported from Rhino in another application (such as Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Illustrator) and re-save it as an image (such as a PNG file). You can then embed this image in a new PDF which should print correctly through any printing channel, including our Web Print service.
